The method involves determining correction values with which an electrical reference control signal for a regulated pump engine that is a component of a brake system (1), is corrected for increasing dosing accuracy. A temporally limited pump test cycle is accomplished with which an electrical parameter i.e. desired value for a generator voltage, of the engine is firmly predetermined. The values are determined while a reaction of the engine is evaluated based on electrical signal controlled by the engine in a control loop.
