In general, the invention relates to a method for managing a drilling ope ration in a multicomponent particulate system. The method includes obtaining a plurality of geophysical and petrophysical data associated with the multi component particulate system, obtaining at least one measurement of an elast oplastic property of the multicomponent particulate system, calculating at l east one elastoplastic property of the multicomponent particulate system usi ng the at least one measurement of the elastoplastic property of the multico mponent particulate system, constructing at least one correlation between th e at least one elastoplastic property and the at least one property correspo nding to the plurality of geophysical and petrophysical data, estimating at least one elastoplastic property of sediments in a formation of interest usi ng the at least one correlation, evaluating mechanical integrity of the form ation of interest using the at least one elastoplastic property of sediments , and adjusting the drilling operation based the evaluation.
