<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a security system while considering security even in an error case, such as policy server down by allowing a link between a policy server and an MFP playing a central role in an office. <P>SOLUTION: In the security system comprising the security policy server and MFP, when a document is normally saved in a Box of the MFP, an attempt is made to operate the document, and a Box document policy cannot be acquired due to some network failure or policy server down, (1) no operation of a box storage document is allowed; (2) only names of a document and an owner are shown; (3) an MFP default policy (a minimum policy of, for example, browsing only) is applied to allow operation of the box document; or (4) in relation with user authentication, an owner of the document would be allowed to perform every operation, such as browse and printing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
