<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently transmit a signal from a BTS etc. in the form of light energy in an optical transmitter which performs either or both of optical transmission and optical reception. <P>SOLUTION: For example, a first optical transmitter 1 is provided with a first input means 51 corresponding to a frequency (i) and a second input means 52 corresponding to a frequency (i) as means of inputting a subject signal of transmission, and provided with a first processing circuit (variable attenuation parts 102, 114, and amplification parts 103, 113, etc.) and a second processing circuit (variable attenuation parts 105, 116, and amplification parts 106, 115, etc.). First detection means 101, 117 and 118 detect the level of a first input signal, and second detection means 104, 117 and 118 detects the level of a second input signal.
