PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste ink absorbing tank which is excellent in liquid absorbency preventing the waste ink from leaking to the outside also when it tilts or when it falls down, and to provide a recorder equipped with the same. SOLUTION: In the waste ink absorbing tank 85, the waste ink collected from nozzles of an inkjet head is sent in, and absorbed and held in an absorbent material 104 disposed inside of a container comprised of a case 86 and a cover 88. A plurality of vents 87 are formed in the cover 88. An absorbent material sheet 105a of the first layer which constitutes the absorbent material 104 in the case 86 is formed of a sponge of an open-cell type with a gas permeability.
