PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of increasing accumulation efficiency of image data onto a storage device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an input means for inputting reading conditions for image data; a reading means for reading the image data by the reading conditions input by the input means; a first storage means for recording the image data to be read by the reading means; a second storage means on which the correspondence between the reading conditions and an estimated data quantity of the image data to be recorded on the first storage means is recorded; a data quantity estimation means for estimating the quantity of the image data to be read, on the basis of the reading conditions and information stored on the second storage means; and a determination means for determining whether or not to read the image data, on the basis of the estimated data quantity and the quantity of the image data recorded on the first storage means.
