<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the peeling of a projecting part provided to regulate movement of a belt member in a direction perpendicular to an endless moving direction thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 has the belt member 1 which is tensioned and laid on at least two rollers and endlessly moves, and which is equipped with a belt main body 10, and the projecting part 20 provided to project from a surface on the side of the belt main body 10 contacting with the roller and regulating the movement of the belt member 1 in the direction crossing with the endless moving direction of the belt member 1. The projecting part 20 has at least one joint 40 where ends are not coupled with each other in the endless moving direction of the belt member 1, and extends in the endless moving direction, and also has a first part 21 whose thickness in a projecting direction has a first value and a second part 22 whose thickness in the projecting direction has a second value smaller than the first value.
