PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus which is excellent in operability and can be prevented from being erroneously operated, and to provide a control method thereof. SOLUTION: When an operation action detecting part 3 detects long push of a first operating part 22, a control part 5 starts a predetermined function and a second operating part can control the predetermined function while the predetermined function is active. Even though the operation action detecting part 3 detects long push of the first operating part 22 while a function other than the predetermined function is active, the predetermined function is not activated.
