PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine drive type generator, capable of effectively performing natural cooling of an exhaust muffler and an engine, even after the stop of operation of a cooling fan by stop of operation of the engine. SOLUTION: In the engine drive type working machine, a duct member 31 is disposed to outer peripheries of the engine 3 and the working machine 4 so as to partition a series of cooling air passage 32 between the engine 3 and the working machine 4, a cooling fan 26 is disposed in a cooling air passage 32 so as to generate the cooling air flowing from one end part to the other end part of the cooling air passage 32 in operation of the engine 3, and the exhaust muffler 70 of the engine 3 is installed close to the other end part of the cooling air passage 32. A baffle plate 71 is continuously disposed to the duct member 31 so as to be suspended from an upper part of the duct member 32 and cover an upper part of one end face on a side facing the cooling air passage 32 of the exhaust muffler 70, and thereby the cooling air which flows from the cooling air passage 32 to the exhaust muffler 70 is guided to a lower part of one side face of the exhaust muffler 70.
