PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side ditch which is of a free gradient type, and contributes to improved working efficiency in a field, and to provide a side ditch construction method. SOLUTION: The side ditch is constructed of a lower block 2, pressure bearing material layers 6, intermediate blocks 7, and an upper block 8. The lower block 2 is integrally formed of a bottom plate 3, a pair of rising portions 4 erected from bottom plate right and left ends over the entire length, and overhanging plates 5 overhanging outward from lower edges of the respective rising portions. Each pressure bearing material layer 6 is formed on the upper surface of the overhanging plate portion 5. Each intermediate block 7 is formed like a plate and mounted to the pressure bearing material layer 6 along a lengthwise direction. The upper block 8 is formed like an inverted U in cross section, and externally fitted to the pairing rising portions and supported on the intermediate blocks 7. Cast-in-place concrete is dispensed with, and therefore field work is facilitated. Further a time period for waiting for the hardening of the concrete is eliminated, and therefore a construction period can be shortened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
