The motor vehicle (1) has a hydraulic steering gear (5) and a hydraulic pump (7) for actuating the hydraulic steering gear. A combustion engine (2) is provided, which is arranged in driving direction (4) behind the steering gear. The combustion engine has two cam shafts (3a) arranged parallel to each other and running in vehicle longitudinal direction. The hydraulic pump is flanged to the cam shaft of the combustion engine and is propelled by the cam shaft which lies on the same side as the hydraulic steering gear, particularly on the side of driver of the motor vehicle.
