A broadcast receiver for optimizing receive sensitivity and its control method are provided to offer an image with an optimized receive sensitivity while maintaining a fast channel conversion. A broadcast signal of a particular channel is received. The sensitivity of the received broadcast signal is changed according to a pre-set value corresponding to the particular channel. It is checked whether a normal screen image is outputted according to whether or not a signal strength and a packet error of the broadcast signal with the changed sensitivity are smaller than a reference signal strength value and reference packet error value. If the broadcast signal with the changed sensitivity is not normally outputted to a screen, the pre-set value is re-adjusted.
