PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal decomposition method of PCB pollutant and its treatment apparatus, in which PCB pollutant containing powdery matter with a high moisture content and/or a volatile matter fraction is supplied to a thermal decomposition furnace so as to increase treatment efficiency. SOLUTION: In the thermal decomposition method of PCB pollutant and its treatment apparatus, openable/closable cutoff valves 7, 8 are provided at two stages in a supply passage communicating a charge port 3 of PCB pollutant p with a supply port 6 of the thermal decomposition furnace 2, the first cutoff valve 7, an openable/closable bulkhead 9 having drilled holes and the second cutoff valve 8 are disposed in a supply passage at intervals in order from the charge port 3, a consolidation means 10 for consolidating the PCB pollutant is provided in a consolidating chamber 4 formed between the first cutoff valve and bulkhead, volatile component discharge holes 12 and heating means 11 are provided on the outer periphery of a supply introduction passage 5 formed between the second cutoff valve and the supply port of the thermal decomposition furnace, and a transfer means for transferring solidified treated matter s obtained by the consolidation means from the consolidating chamber to the supply introduction passage and/or from the thermal decomposition furnace to the thermal decomposition furnace, is included.
