The component has a metallic carrier (9) e.g. sinter body or a grey cast body, forming a core (10) and provided with vibration reducing characteristics. An edge layer (11) with a roll-fixed surface (12) is provided on the metallic carrier in a metal spray compacting method at a side. The edge layer for compression is mechanically reprocessed. A cylindrical rod or a cylindrical pipe is used as the carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a roller bearing component.
