A hoist and traction machine having a body frame (2) forming a load sheave reception space with a guide surface (25a) set as the inner surface of the space, the guide surface (25a) guiding a load chain (5) passed over a load sheave; a bearing plate (21b) fixed inside the body frame (2) and bearing, at the speed reduction means side, the load sheave and a reduction gear; and a bearing plate (21a) for bearing, at the drive means side, the load sheave (11), wherein the load sheave reception space, the drive means, and the speed reduction means are partitioned by the bearing plates. Conventional hoists cannot simultaneously achieve sufficient portability, operability, and durability, do not have a dust-proof function, and have a problem in operability of a hand chain. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008
