PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method of organic chlorine compound contaminants which effectively purifies contaminants contaminated by organic chlorine compounds by presenting an index that can be perceived in order to evaluate whether the organic chlorine compounds in the contaminants are easily decomposed or not and that can be rapidly evaluated, and by adjusting the index so that it becomes a certain range. SOLUTION: In the purification method of the organic chlorine compound contaminants which conducts the biological treatment of the contaminants contaminated by the organic chlorine compounds and decomposes the organic chlorine compounds in the contaminants to purify the contaminants, it is characterized by using the total amount of soluble organic carbons in the contaminants as the index and adding an organic substance to the contaminants so that the total amount of soluble organic carbons becomes 5 mg/g-dry compost or more.
