The present invention provides birch bark pellets that include outer birc h bark. The present invention also provides methods of manufacturing birch b ark pellets from outer birch bark. The present invention also provides metho ds for obtaining a natural product from birch bark pellets. The birch bark p ellets are manufactured from outer birch bark that includes relatively low a mounts of inner birch bark and wood. The birch bark pellets meet the require ment for extraction, to obtain e.g., betulin and/or lupeol from the pellets.
