A method for monitoring an electric load and a controller using the same are provided to improve convenience and safety of an electric management by monitoring a reduction of a current consumption caused by an abnormal load. A method for monitoring an electric load includes the steps of: acquiring a sample value for a normal current of a load from a current sensor in a predetermined period for a predetermined time(b); calculating and storing an average value of a normal current using the sample value acquired from the sample value acquiring step(c); determining whether a present current value is deviated from a predetermined range of a user by comparing the present current with the average value of the normal current stored in the average value storing step(e); informing an alarm of the user in case that the present current value is deviated from the predetermined range of a user(f).
