<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize numerous kinds (numerous colors) of or a number of same-color (increased light-volume) light sources or their combination, by arranging a plurality of light sources at one end of a light guide body. <P>SOLUTION: The plane light source device with a first LED module 32a and a second LED module 32b arranged at an end face of the light guide body 31 includes an ineffective area 37 without any optical scatterer in the vicinity of the LED module. The light guide body 31 has a corner-cut part 39 with a corner cut by an angle of inclination θ in an irradiation direction of the first LED module 32a in a direction of short sides.
