PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit for a wheel and a manufacturing method for an inner member or an outer member with a flange of the bearing unit capable of reducing cost regarding finishing thereof while maintaining flat surface finishing accuracy of a wheel of the flange or a vehicle body mounting surface area. SOLUTION: In the bearing unit for the vehicle, the bearing unit for the wheel includes the relatively rotatably arranged inner member 1 and outer member 4; and rolling bodies B1, B2 installed between the inner member 1 and the outer member 4, flanges 2c, 4c for mounting to a vehicle body or a wheel are projectedly provided on at least any one of the inner member 1 and the outer member 4, and a plurality of bolts capable of being fastened to the vehicle body or the wheel are provided on the flanges 2c, 4c in a circumferential direction. A projection part 30 projecting a peripheral area with the bolt projected to the vehicle body mounting surface side SU or the wheel mounting surface side SR is provided on the flanges 2c, 4c.
