PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation-coated extra fine wire in which an ultra-thin extruded-insulation coating layer is coated smoothly without breakage on conductive materials of extra fine wires. SOLUTION: This insulation-coated extra fine wire 10 is formed by coating a thermoplastic resin, by an extruding machine, on the conductive material 11 of a single wire of AWG 40 and after or a twisted strand made by stranding wires comprising smaller diameters to have a cross-sectional area identical with the single wire of AWG 40 and after. The thermoplastic resin contains no filler which does not melt at a processing temperature of the resin. An inclination represented by a relationship between a discharge amount (cm<SP>3</SP>/min) of the extruding machine and a breaking speed (m/min) of the resin exhibited when melting during the extrusion-coating is not less than an inverse number of an estimated coating adhesion amount (cm<SP>3</SP>/m) of the resin to the conductive materials.
