PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that the operation pressure of a heat pump device rises and a current to a compressor and a load to the compressor increase when an air temperature inside a tub rises accompanying the advance of drying in a washing and drying machine provided with the heat pump device. SOLUTION: An auxiliary cooling means 24 composed of an air heat exchanger utilizing outdoor air or a water heat exchanger utilizing dehumidification water is installed in the middle of an air conduit connecting a condenser 21 and an evaporator 23. Then, the rise of the entrance air temperature of the condenser 21 is suppressed and the increase of the compressor load due to the condensation temperature rise is prevented.
