The invention relates to a method of setting the temperature profile of a catalyst in a reformer. According to the invention, the fuel feed rates in various regions for the introduction of media are varied while maintaining t he air index applicable to the overall reforming process so that a desired t emperature profile is established in the reforming region of the reformer.
