<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve user's convenience when a target image to be processed is selected from a list of thumbnail images. <P>SOLUTION: An image generating circuit 31 generates a cut image by cutting a face extracted by a face extracting circuit 30 and a rectangular area 40 enclosing it from an image wherein the face extracting circuit 30 extracts the face. A size calculating circuit 32 calculates dimensions Ph' and Pv' of the rectangular area 40 in an original thumbnail image, and a comparing circuit 33 compares the calculation result of the size calculating circuit 32 with a preset threshold. The image generating circuit 31 generates the cut image only when the calculation result is smaller than the threshold. Original thumbnail images are employed for an image wherein the face extracting circuit 30 does not extract the face and an image whose calculation result of the size calculating circuit 32 is larger than the threshold although the face is extracted, and a cut image is employed for an image wherein the face is extracted and whose calculation result of the size calculating circuit 32 is smaller than the threshold, so that the original thumbnail images and cut images are listed and displayed respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
