<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a customer account management apparatus and a customer account management method for managing the deposit of a customer account. <P>SOLUTION: The customer account management apparatus is provided with: a storage part for storing information of the customer account; a payment part for paying a prescribed amount of money by direct debit from the deposit of the customer account stored in the storage part to the account of a claim source institution; a notice information generation part 270 for generating a balance shortage notice indicating the balance shortage of the customer account when the payment part can not deduct the prescribed amount of money by the direct debit from the deposit of the customer account, and then transmitting the balance shortage notice to a customer's communication apparatus used by the customer; and a payment completion notice receiving part for receiving a payment completion notice indicating payment for covering the balance shortage from the customer having received the balance shortage notice.
