<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive alternating current generator for vehicle in which high reliability can be assured while keeping compaction and high output by interrupting heat flow from a rectifier to a regulator thereby preventing temperature rise and malfunction of the regulator. <P>SOLUTION: The alternating current generator for vehicle comprises a rotor 3 having a field winding 31, a stator 2 having a stator core 22 arranged oppositely to the rotor 3 and a polyphase stator winding 23 formed on the stator core 22, a frame 4 for supporting the rotor 3 and the stator 2, a rectifier 6 connected with the stator winding 23 and converting the output from AC to DC, and a regulator 7 for controlling conduction amount to the field winding 31.
