PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide powder for producing a film capable of suppressing development of yellowing when assembled in a liquid crystal display device and used over a long period.

SOLUTION: Cellulose acylate grains are characterized as having ≤10 J/g heat quantity of crystalline fusion. For example, a cellulose acylate resin is converted into the grains by a method comprising a step of kneading with a twin-screw kneading extruder at 50-300 rpm screw number of revolutions under 2 to ≤9 MPa kneading resin pressure. The resultant film is effective as a polarizing plate, an optical compensation film or an antireflection film.
