PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus equipped with a shake correction means to contrive power saving. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a photographic optical system 2 for forming a subject image; an imaging device 12 for picking up the subject image formed by the photographic optical system 2; a shake detection means 13 for detecting the shake of a rotating lens part 4; a blur correction means 14 for correcting the blur of the subject image with respect to the imaging device 12 by driving at least either the imaging device 12 or the photographic optical system 2 in a direction crossing the optical axis of the photographic optical system 2 on the basis of the result of detection by the shake detection means 13; a direction decision means 14b for deciding whether or not an optical axis is nearly aligned with a gravity direction; and a power control means 18 for stopping the supply of power to the blur correction means 14 when the optical axis is nearly aligned with the gravity direction on the basis of decision by the direction decision means 14b.
