PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact bidirectional optical module with high measurement accuracy, and to provide an optical pulse tester that uses it. SOLUTION: This bidirectional optical module 100 comprises one or more light-emitting elements 110, 130 which emit light into an optical fiber 71, a light-receiving element 190 which receives the light emitted from the optical fiber 71, and a combining/branching element 160, which leads the light emitted from the optical fiber 71 into the light-receiving element 190 and further comprises, between the combining/branching element 160 and the light-receiving element 190, a stray light shielding member 185 on which an opening 186 for passing through the light to be impinged, into the light-receiving element 190. By providing the stray light shielding member 185, stray light 100b is shielded, while the light 100a emitted from the optical fiber 71 passes through the opening 186, formed in the stray light shielding member 185 and is combined at a light-receiving surface 191 of the light-receiving element 190.
