A tool-holder for a machine tool comprises a body 1, Fig. 1, and a clamping member, the shank 3a of which is movable in a bore 12 and the head 3b of which clamps a tool 2,. of tungsten carbide or other hard metal, in a recess 1a. The clamping member is moved to clamp the tool against the action of a spring 6 by a lever 4 pivoted to the body at 13 and actuated by a screw 5 having a conical end engaging the lever. The head 3b has a chip-breaking insert 7 of tungsten carbide or other hard metal. In a modification, the head 3b, Fig. 2, is angularly adjustable about a shank 3a and locked by a clamp screw 11, and a bolt 9 with a sloping head is positioned in a bore 14 and movable by a screw 10 to form an adjustable abutment for the back of the tool. |
