METHOD FOR GENERATING MULTI-PHASE AND APPARATUS ADAPTED TO THE SAME

A method for generating a multi-phase and an apparatus using the same are provided to improve a recording and reading characteristic in a system using a multi-phase clock signal by generating a multi-phase clock signal of which a phase offset is reduced compared with that of a conventional clock signal. An apparatus for generating a multi-phase includes a reference phase generator(310), a phase error correction unit(320), and a delay cell matrix(330). The reference phase generator generates MÎN first reference clock signals having different phase delay intervals from a clock signal. The phase error correction unit takes an average of a phase offset of M first reference clock signals classified by groups. The phase error correction unit generates L second reference clock signals from MÎN first reference clock signals. The delay cell matrix delays the second reference clock signals sequentially, and generates clock signals having N different phases.
