[Also in Group V] The kneading effect in a screw-press provided with a feed-section 14, a kneading section 15 and an output section 17 is varied by fitting the output section with a cylindrical shaft 28 and grooved box 22 which may be replaced by one having a different grooving so as to change the output volume and thus the amount of kneading. The housing 1 of the press has annular heating or cooling chambers 3, 4, 5 and the material is kneaded in chambers 15 where the shaft 12 is oval in cross-section, Fig. 2. In a modification, the press may have two screws and in this case the interchangeable box 22 has two bores. The shafts may turn in the same or opposite directions and their threads may mesh or only touch.
