PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC POLYCARBONATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a high-molecular weight aromatic polycarbonate having an excellent hue by a melting method. SOLUTION: The process for producing the aromatic polycarbonate is carried out as follows. Three units of vertical type reactors and one unit of a horizontal type reactor having an agitation apparatus are connected and a transesterification reaction of an aromatic dihydroxy compound with a carbonic diester is conducted under conditions of≤90 min average residence time of a polymerization reaction liquid,≥2.0 kW/m3power requirement for agitation based on unit volume and≥1.0 m2h/m3evaporation surface area based on the unit through-put when the intrinsic viscosity of the polymerization reaction liquid fed to the third vertical type reactor 6c is≥0.1 dl/g.
