<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioner provided with a fan cleaning device automatically carrying out removal of dust of an indoor cross flow fan. <P>SOLUTION: The indoor unit for the air conditioner is provided with the fan cleaning device cleaning the cross flow fan arranged in a draft duct communicating an air suction opening and a blow-out opening of an indoor unit body. The fan cleaning device is provided with a fan dust remover moving in a rotation axis direction along a blade of the cross flow fan and removing dust attached to the blade, a moving device moving the fan dust remover, an exhaust device provided in one end side of the indoor unit body and communicated with a one side side face space of the cross flow fan, and an exhaust duct communicated with the exhaust device.
