<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus that displays a data display area the presence of which is easy for a user to recognize and which is easy to use. <P>SOLUTION: A display control unit 51 displays shortcut icons, with which predetermined functions including a power-saving function and a sub-operation part allocation setting function can be set, in a standby picture on a display part 2 in an initial state.
