PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which allows a composition, hue, and brightness of a subject to be set by comparison between a through image and a reference image. SOLUTION: The reference image displayed in a first area 7a of a LCD 7 instead of the through image, and a composition image generated by extracting contours components of the reference image is displayed in a second area 7b of the LCD 7 superposed over the through image. A photographer compares the through image in the second area 7b and the reference image in the first area 7a with each other to set hue and brightness of the subject. The photographer compares the through image in the second area 7b and the composition image of the reference image in the second area 7b with each other to set a composition of the subject.
