PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interference sounds between a seat member provided at the free end of a rebound spring and a piston rod by reducing the speed of the rebound spring. SOLUTION: This cylinder device is formed as part of a shock absorber with the free end side seat member 7 having a seat which is guided to the piston rod 4 in a cylinder 7, and on which the end of the rebound spring 5 is seated. A speed reducing means is provided at the free end side seat member 7 for reducing the speed of the rebound spring as a mass body in the axially perpendicular direction to reduce the inertial force of the rebound spring in the axially perpendicular direction.
