A ceramic honeycomb filter having a honeycomb structure body having a large number of flow paths partitioned by porous partition walls and also having sealing sections alternately arranged on the exhaust gas inlet side of and exhaust gas outlet side of the flow paths. The ceramic honeycomb filter satisfies the expressions of 0.1 = W = 0.5, 8 = ?/W = 26.7, and 125 = L/A^0.5 = 360, where W is the thickness in mm of the partition walls, ? is the degree in µm² of air permeability of the partition walls, L is the length of the flow paths in mm, A is the cross-sectional area in mm² of the flow paths measured in a plane perpendicular to the length direction of the flow paths.
