A cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) timer (10) for use with a bag mask resuscitator (2) provides a visual pacing device when a cardiopulmonary resu scitation procedure is being performed on a patient is disclosed. The CPR ti mer includes a plurality of visual indicators (20, 22, 24, 26, 28) arranged in an array that sequentially activate at a predetermined pace that matches the recommended pace for air delivery times and/or chest compressions when u sing a bag mask resuscitator to provide life support to a patient. The CPR t imer further includes a pressure sensor (21) in operative association with t he bag mask resuscitator for detecting when the bag mask resuscitator is act uated.
