PROCESS FOR CONTINUOUSLY PRODUCING AROMATIC POLYCARBONATE AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process by which a plurality of grades of aromatic polycarbonates are produced according to a melting method without causing a changeover loss or quality deterioration.

SOLUTION: The process for producing the aromatic polycarbonates is carried out as follows. A raw material molten mixture of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and/or a carbonic diester prepared in the absence of a transesterification catalyst is fed to two series of a polycondensation steps equipped with 3 units of vertical type reactors and one unit of a horizontal type reactor connected in series, respectively and a polycondensation reaction is simultaneously continuously conducted in the presence of the transesterification catalyst.
