SOLUTION: In the image reading apparatus having a CCD 1, a AFE 2, an image processor 3, a lamp 5, CPU 6 and the like, the problem is solved by the image reading apparatus 100 that controls the AFE 2 and the image processor 3 or the like, so that the CPU 6 does not carry out AGC processing for obtaining gain adjustment requirements until color scanning instructions are given for color components.
