PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve accurate filling by use of a timer. SOLUTION: The filling apparatus includes a storage tank 4 that stores a liquid with which a container 48 is filled, a metering chamber 8 that is connected to the storage tank 4 via a liquid supply pipe 16 and receives the liquid supplied from the storage tank 4, a liquid introduction valve 18 that stops the communication of the supply pipe 16 with the storage tank 4, and a level sensor 24 that detects the height of the surface of the liquid supplied into the metering chamber 8. The height of the surface of the liquid supplied into the metering chamber 8 is detected by the level sensor 24 in order make it constant. Thereafter, the liquid valve 12 is opened, and the container 48 is filled with the liquid in the metering chamber 8. Since the height of the liquid is kept constant, the container 48 can be filled with the fixed quantity of liquid all the time by controlling the opening time of the liquid valve 12 by use of the timer.
