The method involves attaching an additional phonebook set (Z) as directory in a reserved directory of a standardized directory structure (S) for storing telephone directory entries in such a manner that the maximum number of short file identifiers is provided for each additional phonebook set. A mobile data carrier and/or an operating system of the mobile data carrier is informed about the attachment of the additional phonebook sets using an information mechanism (M, M`), where the information mechanism is a tag in a phonebook reference file in the reserved directory. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a structure for storing telephone directory entries on a mobile data carrier (2) a computer program product for performing a method for storing telephone directory entries on the mobile data carrier.
