<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of widening a distortion correctable range, without causing the amount of a memory to be used to increase, when performing distortion correction for alignment between respective colors. <P>SOLUTION: The distortion amount, from a reference color when each color is set as the reference color, is calculated for each color, and distortion line amount when each color is set as the reference color is calculated, based on the calculated distortion amount and the resolution of image data in a subscanning direction; and then the maximum value of the distortion line amount, when each color is set as the reference color is calculated for each color, based on the calculated distortion line amount. If the maximum value of the distortion line amount, when black is set as the reference color is equal to or under the predetermined number of lines, black is set as the reference color. If the maximum value of the distortion line amount, when black is set as the reference color is not equal to or under the predetermined number of lines, the color whose maximum value of the distortion line amount becomes a minimum is set as the reference color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
