PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a restart frame at high speed. SOLUTION: A thumbnail image 716 and moving image management data 703 are generated on the basis of moving image data stored in a moving image file. The generated representative image and moving image management data are stored in a moving image thumbnail file 701 while being made to correspond to the moving image file. The moving image data stored in the moving image file are reproduced on the basis of the moving image data. When the reproduction of the moving image data is interrupted halfway, a moving image file offset 718 and a frame size 709 at the point of time of the interruption are stored in the moving image thumbnail file.
