PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic device of a cyan color development that has high color purity is capable of precisely controlling a color and contributes to a vivid and clear full-color image display. SOLUTION: A pair of electrode structures (display electrode structure and counter electrode structure) are disposed, holding an electrolytic layer in-between; a porous electrode to which an electrochromic coloring matter that develops color by oxidization or reduction is adsorbed is formed on the transparent electrode of the display electrode structure; a porous electrode, to which an organic radical compound is adsorbed is formed on the transparent electrode of the counter electrode structure; and the organic radical compound has a functional group expressed by Formula (1).
