PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety of products by preventing a solenoid from being heated beyond a predetermined level and stably select a sheet conveying path in a sheet conveying device for conveying sheets through a selected conveying path by operating a selection member such as a selection claw by the solenoid to select the conveying path. SOLUTION: The solenoid 50 is changed over according to the time in which the solenoid is driven. When the time exceeds a specified one, the solenoid is controlled by pulses to turn on and off a supply voltage in a very short cycle while the solenoid is driven. When the time in which the solenoid is driven does not reach a specified time, the solenoid is continuously turned on or controlled by pulses at the duty ratio larger than that when the time exceeds the specified time.
