A vehicle locating system is disclosed comprising a fob 12 for directing a user to a vehicle 14. The system comprises GPS units 24,26 included in the vehicle 14 and the fob 12 that are respectively configured to determine GPS coordinates for the vehicle 14 and the fob 12 whereby the GPS units 24,26 are configured to activate at approximately the same time such that the direction to the vehicle may be determined based on the commonly inaccurate GPS coordinates associated with the units 24,26. The fob 12 may be configured to determine the direction to the vehicle 14 upon transmission of the vehicle GPS coordinates to the fob 12 when it is within a predetermined range relative to the vehicle 14. The fob 12 may futher determine the direction to the vehicle 14 based on GPS coordinates previously stored for the vehicle if the fob is beyond a predetermined range to the vehicle 14. |
