摘要 A method of drilling a well using at least one drill bit and at least one secondary cutting structure, that includes determining a neutral point of a drill string (ST 1000) positioning at least one secondary cutting structure based on the neutral point of the drill string, and drilling an earth formation. Additional methods involve determining a neutral point (ST 1000) of the drilling tool assembly, modeling the drilling tool assembly having a secondary cutting structure such as reamer at a position and simulating the drilling tool assembly (ST 1010), and using the simulation to determine a location for the secondary cutting structure; or selecting a weight on bit for a drilling application, comprising, determining a neutral point based on a first weight and a neutral point based on a second weight, and then determining a weight on bit that places the neutral point of the drill string adjacent a secondary cutting structure.
