[Also in Group XXV] Bindingmaterial in the form of a ribbon, particularly for tying bales of compressed material, comprises a row 27 of laterally-spaced groups 21 of longitudinally extending glass filaments, each group 21 comprising a number of filaments laid in parallelism and untwisted, and a thermoplastic covering enclosing and separating said groups, the covering comprising a synthetic thermoplastic material, e.g. polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, nylon, or a cellulose derivative. The filaments of each group 21 may be bonded together and then the groups passed through a vat containing the thermoplastic covering material in the fluid state, whereby they are covered, as at 28. |
